Now for what is going on!
Whew... while this blog has lain dorment and in a coma-like state, I myself have not. I had a great time but gound class 3 very challenging. I fear that my lack of maya knowledge may be starting to hinder me as an animator. I can rotate controllers no problem, but when it comes to things like modeling, constraints or deformers... I am like a child wandering aimlessly in the night! I really found a great mentor and friend im my class 3 mentor Nick Bruno. A very knowledgable cat and an excellent animator to boot. His critques and pushing really made me a better animator. Thanks! I didn't make the showcase reel but I'm really going to try and make this one. I hope I have what it takes! That is all... for now!

Blog I owe you a big apology!!!
Well, I was chastised by my friend and classmate Derek Esparza for not updating my blog. Not only have I been lax in keeping this blog up to date... I have downright abandoned it. I haven't posted since the beginning of class 2. Which makes it right around the 8 month mark since I have posted. I am the worst blogger alive. The thing is I want to post. I'm well aware that no one reads this but I would like to keep a record of my time at AM! So, I'd like to lie and say that I'm going to keep this up to date but I'm sure there will be major gaps in this thing. Over and out!

Class 2 - You are mine!!!!
Well, Like an old horse or something, I'm great out of the gate but not so much for stamina... I started out posting once a week, then just quit. Work and school took up most of my time and unfortunately my blog suffered (it's ok baby... you're still daddy's girl). Hopefully, I will post mor frequently this term. That's right... I made it through basic foundations at animation mentor.
I learned a ton this semester and I really think my animation has improved. I'm still a white belt though. My mentor Kevin Micallef was excellent. I always found his advice to be clear and easy to understand. It also vastly improved my work. He helped me to understand a few concepts that weren't getting through my thick skull. Anyways, I really enjoyed working with him.
My mentor for class2 - Body Mechanics is Don Kim and as it would turn out is a friend of my old mentor. I have watched a bunch of his critques from last semester and he seems to be a very knowledgable and enlightened cat!
The assignments for this term look challenging but fun at the same time. We are really going to get into the meat ant taters of this whole animation thing. I for one cant wait.
Only 5 more classes until I can implement my plan for world dominance!

Week 4 - Timing and Spacing
As the assignments get bigger and I get busier at work I have less time to post. Week 4 we were required to animate two balls: one heavy and one light. Also we were to plan out the animation with thumbnails. Theings are getting more and more indepth each week. I love it. I think all this foundation stuff is really fun. There will be plenty of time for animation charactere in the future. I'm just going to relax and enjoy this.

Stu in autumn!
This is my week 3 Stu pose. We are trying to convey 'excitement' in a single pose. Webster's dictionary defines excitement as: to rouse to an emotional response. I hope this pose shows that. We also had to do our first bouncing ball animation. Now Im not going to change the world with my animation but I feel that what I have is solid and more than meets the assignment requirement... See you soon!

Testing ...1...2...3...
Hello World! This is the maiden post of the animation mentor voyage. I am well into week three of the course and am having a blast. We are still having the basics drilled int our heads but I dont mind. Can't be great without the basics so drill away mentors! Met my mentor Kevin Micallef and was very impressed with his resume and knowledge. I look forward suckling from the teet of his knowledge (that was a bit too descriptive). Anyways, I'll post again soon and put up some samples of my work and what I have learned!
